The following sets out information about Listeningloudly Psychology Policy and explains when and why we may be required to release personal information or may use non-identified data collected through our services. We care about this part a lot, so please read or at least skim before agreeing. You must agree to this policy to access sessions at Listeningloudly Psychology.

PRIVACY

Listeningloudly Psychology is committed to protecting your privacy. When using our services, you may be asked to provide some personal information. This may be used to enable us to work more effectively with you as a client. Only the Psychologist you are seeing at Listeningloudly Psychology will have access to this information.

CONFIDENTIALITY

All personal information and notes gathered by the Psychologist and Listeningloudly Psychology during the provision of psychological services will remain confidential and secure except when:

1. It is subpoenaed by a court; or

2. If there is a risk to the life, health or safety of an individual or the public that can be averted only by disclosing information (this no longer needs to be imminent); or

3. To assist with locating a missing person; or

4. Your prior approval has been obtained to

a) provide a written report to another professional or agency, e.g. a GP or a lawyer; or

b) discuss the material with another person, e.g. a parent or employer.

5. This form and your file is only handled by your treating Psychologist.

6. Please note that if you are referred under a Mental Health Care Plan the Psychologist is required to write a letter back to your referring Doctor that includes among other things your diagnosis. The Psychologist is also required by Medicare to provide your GP with regular written updates on your progress in therapy as per Medicare or other requirements. If you are concerned about the content of the these letters, please discuss this with your treating Psychologist.

7. In Australia, there is mandatory reporting laws for childhood sexual abuse, past and present. If you are under 18, information gathered regarding this, is required to be reported by law.

8. All notes taken during your interactions with the psychologist will be kept for 10 years. If information regarding childhood sexual abuse is gathered, the notes will be kept for 99 years, as per Australian law and guidelines.

PAYMENTS

Please complete your session payment prior to your appointment. We email you an invoice approximately 24 hours prior to your consultation time. You can complete payment using PayID (preferred), bank transfer or credit card.

CANCELLATIONS AND NO SHOW

If you cancel within 24 hours of your appointment time, you are liable for a full session fee. There are no exceptions to this. Please note that Medicare does not cover a cancellation or no-show fee. You can not book any further appointments until your account has been settled and your treating Psychologist reserves the right to cease therapy. You will receive a SMS reminder of your session 48-hours prior to your appointment time to ensure you have time to cancel.
